About The Position

As a Principal Data Analyst at Hyland, you'll be the primary technical authority for analytics solutions — setting the standard for how the organization designs, builds, and scales its analytical capabilities. You'll blend deep technical expertise with strategic thinking, translating complex business needs into high-quality, scalable solutions while mentoring a team of analysts and driving continuous innovation across the analytics function. This role is built for someone who thrives as a senior individual contributor and technical leader who makes the whole team better.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in advanced data analytics or business intelligence roles, with demonstrated increasing technical scope and complexity.
  • Expert-level experience with Power BI, including semantic model design and optimization, advanced DAX development, and designing scalable enterprise datasets.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, including writing complex, performant queries across large datasets, data transformation and aggregation logic, and troubleshooting data quality and reconciliation issues.
  • Strong working experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse/Warehouse concepts, Dataflows (Gen2), data transformation patterns, and consumption of Fabric data assets within Power BI.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, review, and approve complex analytics solutions end-to-end, with significant experience providing technical guidance, mentorship, and review for analytics team members.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Power BI certification (e.g., PL-300 or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles, analytics architecture, and solution scalability in enterprise environments.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguous problem spaces and make sound technical decisions with incomplete information.
  • Experience establishing and enforcing technical standards, including modeling practices, metric definitions, performance optimization, and solution architecture frameworks.
  • Strong business and technology acumen with the ability to balance analytical rigor with practical application, and communicate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse internal audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the final technical decision-maker and approval authority for analytics solutions — including data models, dashboards, and advanced analytics logic — while establishing and enforcing technical standards across the team.
  • Collect, analyze, and oversee the development of advanced and predictive analytical models; personally develop high-complexity datasets and dashboards where deep technical expertise is required.
  • Review and approve technical work produced by analysts, ensuring adherence to standards and best practices; mentor and coach team members through hands-on collaboration and feedback to elevate overall team capability.
  • Oversee data integrity audits, monitor data management procedures, and facilitate the development of standards for internal technical documentation, metric definitions, and analytical assumptions.
  • Partner with Data Engineering, IT, and internal stakeholders to ensure upstream data design supports analytical needs; operate as a trusted advisor on analytics trends, technical feasibility, and implementation approaches.
  • Act as a technical thought leader by identifying, testing, and promoting improved tools, techniques, and best practices to drive overall quality, reliability, and scalability of the analytics function.
