About The Position

U.S. FinTech is seeking an experienced Principal, Cloud Solutions Architect to join their team. This is a full-time remote opportunity. U.S. FinTech operates the largest and most advanced mortgage securitization platform globally, supporting significant portions of the mortgage-backed securities market. Their cloud-based platform executes transactions at an extraordinary scale, enhancing liquidity in the secondary mortgage market. The company combines financial services expertise with technological innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in building large-scale software applications.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in an AWS environment.
  • Experience creating infrastructure-as-code (AWS CDK/SAM preferred).
  • Experience in building web applications.
  • Experience designing and building relational database transactional applications.
  • Experience in designing and integrating RESTful APIs.
  • Strong knowledge of Java/TypeScript/JavaScript and Python.
  • Experience with AWS serverless architecture and cloud infrastructure.
  • Familiarity with AI development tools (e.g., Amazon Q Developer/Kiro) and AI services (e.g., Amazon Bedrock).
  • Excellent debugging and optimization skills.
  • Experience in unit/integration testing.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor and develop engineering talent.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies.
  • Thorough understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on development across the full cloud technology stack.
  • Making strategic architecture decisions.
  • Serving as the primary technical interface to clients and U.S. FinTech leadership.
  • Ensuring the delivery of scalable, secure securitization platforms while maintaining high engineering standards.
  • Working across the full stack to build highly scalable distributed solutions.
  • Developing new features and infrastructure for rapidly emerging business and project requirements.
  • Ensuring seamless integration between front-end and back-end by designing and implementing APIs, data models, and communication protocols.
  • Ensuring application security, performance, uptime, and scale through sound cloud infrastructure engineering.
  • Evaluating complex technology issues spanning cloud infrastructure, resiliency, performance, vulnerability management, technology lifecycle, observability, automation, and emerging technologies.
  • Applying engineering and systems-thinking principles to evaluate technology risks, controls, architecture decisions, operational practices, and remediation approaches.
  • Driving modernization of Technology Governance through automation, data analytics, and AI.
  • Partnering with Technology and Risk stakeholders to establish pragmatic governance approaches for emerging technologies, including AI.
  • Maintaining high standards for code quality and application design.
  • Driving strategic technical direction and architecture decisions for the platform.
  • Leading technical design discussions and establishing engineering best practices.
  • Identifying engineering defects in the existing code base and improving code quality.
  • Building executive business cases for larger scale, long-term improvements.
  • Serving as the last line of technical support and escalation.
  • Working primarily in Java, SQL, TypeScript, React, JavaScript/HTML/CSS.
  • Designing and implementing SQL, GraphQL APIs, and AWS serverless architecture.
  • Creating infrastructure-as-code using AWS CDK and SAM.
  • Leveraging AI tools for development and product enablement.
  • Participating in all aspects of agile software development, including design, implementation, and deployment.
  • Providing strategic oversight of budget and resource planning.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Serving as the external face of the engineering team to client organizations and U.S. FinTech leadership.
  • Translating business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Collaborating with product, design, and operations teams.
  • Maintaining business continuation and customer satisfaction.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
