Parsons Corporation is seeking a dynamic and seasoned professional to join our team as a Principal-Level Roadway & Highway Design Engineer. Requirements

  • A 4-year degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
  • 8+ years of related work experience, with a proven track record in roadway and highway design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation v8i and Geopak is essential.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and effectively.
  • Familiarity with industry practices and regulations, with specific experience working with NCDOT/SCDOT.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Civil3D and ORD (Open Roads Designer) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the technical excellence of engineering functions across projects, ensuring seamless coordination of technical disciplines and the development of innovative project alternatives, from preliminary to final design.
  • Provide technical direction and design leadership, mentoring junior engineers on roadway design projects for local and state agencies, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
  • Prepare comprehensive design and construction documents, including horizontal/vertical geometric designs, superelevation computations, plan and profile sheets, cross-sections, public hearing display boards, design exception and waiver documentation, cost estimates, and QA/QC documents.
  • Work closely with the project team and interdisciplinary technical personnel to ensure cohesive project execution.
  • Assist the project manager in delivering project milestones, ensuring adherence to client criteria and scope.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation for clients and project managers, ensuring clear communication and project transparency.
  • Assist in identifying and managing project resources, liaising with support departments, other offices, or subsidiaries to assemble effective project teams.
  • Contribute to identifying new project pursuits, gather intelligence on potential opportunities, participate in Parsons’ pursuit process, and potentially lead responses to client requests for proposals/qualifications.
