About The Position

To support this momentum, we are excited to add a Principal Business Immigration Paralegal with expertise in business immigration to our team. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity to work alongside industry-leading professionals in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The purpose of our Principal Business Immigration Paralegal is to draw on your advanced immigration experience to analyze information and documents, create strategy and draft, review, and compile immigration petitions and applications for attorney review and filing. The Principal Business Immigration Paralegal will be responsible for managing volume while prioritizing, handling more complex cases and identifying potential issues. You will manage and handle client/foreign national communications regarding case processing and status for key accounts, including enterprise clients, with excellent client service and a view towards employee experience. This role performs all duties with minimal supervision, seeking direction from an attorney and/or relevant leader only as necessary.

Requirements

  • Completed Bachelor’s Degree – highly desirable.
  • At least 4 full years of experience working as an Immigration Paralegal drafting employment-based petitions, including for more complex cases and/or high-profile clientele.
  • Minimum Intermediate level proficiency with MS Suite (Teams, Outlook, Word).
  • Experience communicating directly with (HR staff) and/or foreign nationals regarding case requirements, including work on key accounts/clients.
  • Extensive experience communicating directly with (HR staff) and/or foreign nationals regarding case requirements, including work on key accounts/enterprise clients.
  • You have a genuine interest in US immigration, with a desire to treat clients and foreign nationals with respect and an empathetic approach.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and prioritize caseload.
  • Strong computer literacy with the ability to adapt to state-of-the-art Envoy case processing software to monitor and record all visa petitions.
  • Ability to follow due process, templates, and to adapt to evolving innovation within the Firm, and Industry –ensure that team members do the same.
  • Ability to spot issues and resolve problems in case preparation without Attorney support.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with drafting petitions for a range of NIV cases preferred: H1B, L, TN, O-1 etc. and/or experience with drafting green card processes (I-140 and AOS), and end-to-end PERM applications, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective document intake: i.e., review documents for validity and sufficiently analyze immigration status based on documents provided during document collection.
  • Be accountable for the heavy drafting and reviewing of immigration forms and letters based on the analysis of case details, documents, and individual qualifications, as per strict deadlines for a range of NIV, PERM and IV applications (end to end).
  • Apply excellent attention to detail, ensuring immigration petitions are prepared efficiently and accurately.
  • Assist in general ad-hoc requests as needed by attorneys.
  • Assist other team members with case or document preparation, as required.
  • Be a source of knowledge for the team with all cases and client protocols.
  • Coordinate with Immigrations Operations teams regarding the printing, scanning, and posting of cases, and service requests.
  • Flag any ideas for process improvement to appropriate Attorney/Case Manager.
  • Flag any potential/foreseeable case-related issues with Attorney and/or Senior Case Manager, in a timely manner.
  • Joining weekly, biweekly or monthly docket calls, as needed.
  • Prioritize daily workload based on fluctuating client deadlines, whilst maintaining an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Respond to client communication requests – either via client contact, or directly with the foreign national.
  • Review of visa petitions by less experienced Paralegal staff (as required).
  • Swiftly draft responses to requests for evidence for more complex cases.
  • Train and mentor other paralegals on both immigration specific content and organizational policies and procedures.
  • Utilize online immigration case tracking system to monitor case status and activities daily.
