About The Position

Symbotic is seeking a Principal Autonomous Test Systems Engineer to join their team. This is a greenfield role where you will define the architecture for a unified test data platform. You will be responsible for building executive test dashboards, designing a versioned test data schema, architecting a shared automation framework, and integrating physical test environments into automated system integration testing. The goal is to bring together test data from various sources into one pipeline, one schema, and one automation framework, with dashboards for executive review. You will also drive adoption of the framework, equip the reliability team with necessary data, set the roadmap, make build vs. buy decisions, and mentor senior engineers.

Requirements

  • 12+ years in test automation, test infrastructure, or data platform engineering for physical, electromechanical, or robotic systems.
  • A track record of building and driving adoption of a platform by teams outside your own.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware: DAQ, sensors, test rigs, HIL, and system integration.
  • Experience with test or telemetry data modeling, time series data, and creating dashboards for non-engineers.
  • Proficiency in Go and/or Python.
  • Experience with CI/CD, containers, AWS, and API design.
  • A Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience architecting platforms in Go.
  • Experience working alongside reliability engineers on life or degradation modeling.

Responsibilities

  • Build executive test dashboards for leadership to view the state of testing across the company.
  • Design and own a versioned test data schema used by all test teams, with pipelines for data from test rigs, DAQ, automated runs, and manual campaigns.
  • Architect a shared automation framework for orchestration, sequencing, result capture, and CI/CD.
  • Integrate physical test environments (rigs, fixtures, instrumentation, HIL) into automated, end-to-end system integration testing.
  • Drive adoption of the new framework through reference implementations, documentation, and hands-on enablement.
  • Equip the reliability team with clean, traceable data for system aging and wear modeling.
  • Set the roadmap, make build vs. buy decisions, and mentor senior engineers, potentially leading a small team.
