About The Position

CitizenOne, Portage CyberTech’s CIAM (Citizen Identity and Access Management) platform, operates in a highly regulated environment where privacy, security, and scalability are critical. We are looking for a Principal Architect to shape the long-term technical vision and ensure the platform remains robust, secure, and evolvable, while enabling engineering teams to move fast and independently. This is a senior role, acting as a technical steward across engineering, product, and security.

Requirements

• 10+ years in software engineering, including large-scale distributed systems
• Strong expertise in backend architecture, APIs, identity (IAM/CIAM)
• Experience with security, privacy, and regulated environments
• Strong systems thinking and ability to balance trade-offs

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Verifiable Credentials, federation, Zero Trust (asset)

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the target architecture identity services, data, integrations)
• Drive architectural standards, principles, and decision frameworks
• Ensure scalability, performance, security, and compliance (privacy-by-design)
• Lead key technical decisions and architecture reviews (ADRs)
• Partner with Engineering Managers, Tech Leads, Product, and Security
• Guide teams through complex system design without blocking delivery
• Mentor senior engineers and elevate architecture practices
