About The Position

At Netsmart, we’re transforming healthcare technology through the power of cloud, data, and AI. We are seeking a Principal Architect, Cloud & Application Transformation to lead the evolution of our application ecosystem—modernizing legacy platforms, accelerating cloud adoption, and enabling next-generation, AI-driven capabilities. This role blends strategic architecture leadership with hands-on engineering and is responsible for driving application-to-cloud transformation (App → Cloud) across the enterprise. This is a high-impact, onsite role in Overland Park, KS, partnering with executive leadership, engineering, and product teams. Must be onsite within our Overland Park, KS office location.

Requirements

Experience as Principal or Lead Architect in enterprise environments
Expertise in cloud platforms (Azure/AWS)
Experience with .NET, C#, distributed systems
Track record leading modernization initiatives
Proven success with application-to-cloud transformations
Strong stakeholder communication and influence
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
Must be on site in Overland Park, KS

Nice To Haves

Experience with Java, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes
Healthcare or regulated industry experience
Experience with AI/ML or LLM integration
Cloud certifications

Responsibilities

Lead cloud and application transformation strategy including App → Cloud initiatives
Drive modernization using microservices, APIs, and event-driven architecture
Lead design reviews, code reviews, and architecture decisions
Develop prototypes and reference architecture
Architect solutions across AWS
Mentor other engineers and architects
Champion AI/ML and data-driven engineering approaches
Partner with executive leadership on technology strategy
Guide SDLC architecture standards and governance
