Principal Application Developer, PD Systems
About The Position
Bristol Myers Squibb Company is hiring a(n) Principal Application Developer, PD Systems (in New Brunswick, NJ). This role involves assisting in the development, production support, and life cycle management for Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS). The developer will partner with business clients, IT Business Partners, and other IT functions to deliver digital capabilities. Collaboration with teams to define business requirements, provide project timelines, and develop acceptance criteria for testing is key. The role includes translating development plans into actionable projects, conducting releases from design and deployment to production, and coordinating with the operations team for application deployment. Integration of new technologies and methodologies into the development pipeline, with a focus on automation, system reliability, and scalability, is expected. Ensuring compliance with regulations and best practices, while driving improvements in operational processes and performance monitoring, is also a core responsibility. The position supports the seamless deployment and maintenance of solutions across environments. Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days per week.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Information Systems, Business Analytics, Information Technology, Science or a related field, and five (5) years of related work experience in a Computer Systems Analyst or related occupation. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, seven (7) years of related work experience will be accepted.
- Five (5) years of experience in developing and testing applications using Java, J2EE, JSP, JDBC, Servlets, EJB, JSON, XML, JMS, Java Mail, DOM/SAX, SOAP Web Services, or RESTful Web Services.
- Five (5) years of experience in implementing applications with frameworks including Spring, Hibernate, AngularJS, React, and Python.
- Five (5) years of experience leveraging cloud technologies including Amazon Web Services, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Five (5) years of experience configuring Continue Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
- Five (5) years of experience with relationship database services including Oracle, SQL server and PostgreSQL.
- Five (5) years of experience with NoSQL databases including MongoDB, HBase, and Cassandra.
- Five (5) years of experience utilizing SAS technology and GitHub to develop datasets for advanced analytics and business reporting.
- Five (5) years of experience applying Agile methodologies and JIRA.
- Five (5) years of experience with Scrum and sprint planning.
- Five (5) years of experience documenting project artifacts including System Requirement Specification (SRS), Functional Specifications (FS), Detailed Design Specifications (DDS), System Traceability Matrix (STM), and User Guides while adhering to quality processes.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, production support, and life cycle management for Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).

- Conduct releases from design and deployment to production run.
- Coordinate with operations team to deploy applications to various environments.
- Integrate new technologies and methodologies into the development pipeline.
- Focus on the automation of processes and the improvement of system reliability and scalability.
- Ensure that applications comply with all relevant regulations and best practices, while also driving improvements in operational processes and performance monitoring.
- Support the seamless deployment and maintenance of solutions across environments.
