About The Position

We are seeking a Principal API Architect to join a cross functional Emerging Technologies team responsible for designing and exposing advanced 4G and 5G network functions, capabilities, and data streams to internal and external consumers. This role will lead the API architecture that enables developers, partners, and product teams to securely and efficiently leverage network intelligence and controls. As a senior technical leader, you will define API strategy, guide implementation across teams, and provide architectural and thought leadership in a highly collaborative environment spanning network engineering, cloud platforms, security, and product organizations. Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience designing and building enterprisescale APIs and distributed systems
  • Handson experience exposing 4G/LTE and 5G network functions, capabilities, and telemetry to external services
  • Proven experience designing and implementing NEF, SCEF, and CAMARA APIs
  • Experience working with multiple 5G core OEMs (e.g., Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, or equivalent), including integration and abstraction across vendor platforms
  • Extensive API development experience in one or more modern programming languages, such as: Java / Kotlin Go Python TypeScript / Node.js C++ (or equivalent, where applicable to network systems)
  • Deep understanding of API security and access control mechanisms, including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, mTLS, JWTs, and rate limiting
  • Strong architectural judgment with the ability to influence technical direction across teams and organizations
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining complex architecture decisions to both technical and business stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of 3GPP standards related to network exposure and service enablement
  • Experience with Aduna
  • Experience with cloud‑native telco platforms, including Kubernetes, containers, and service meshes
  • Background in telco cloud, NFV, SDN, or edge computing
  • Experience designing APIs for developer ecosystems, including onboarding workflows, documentation, SDKs, and sandbox environments
  • Prior experience in emerging or innovation focused engineering teams

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and evolution of APIs that expose 4G/LTE and 5G network functions, capabilities, and realtime data streams to external services
  • Design and govern NEF, SCEF, and CAMARA compliant APIs, ensuring alignment with 3GPP and GSMA standards
  • Partner closely with network, platform, product, and security teams to translate complex telecom concepts into clean, developer friendly interfaces
  • Define and enforce API standards for scalability, performance, security, versioning, and lifecycle management
  • Drive API design decisions across REST, OpenAPI, GraphQL, gRPC, and event driven architectures
  • Ensure APIs support high through put, low latency enterprise grade work loads with strong observability and resiliency
  • Provide technical thought leadership and mentorship across a diverse, cross functional engineering organization
  • Review designs and implementations to ensure consistency, quality, and best practice adoption
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, standards, and industry initiatives to inform long term network exposure strategy
  • Represent API architecture in internal forums and external partner discussions as a subject matter expert
