About The Position

Emerson is seeking a self-motivated Analog Electrical Design-Development Engineer to develop Magnetic and Vortex flowmeter products and technologies on a multidisciplinary project team at their Eden Prairie, MN location. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing electronic products that meet quality, performance, cost, and schedule goals from concept through manufacturing introduction with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or any STEM-related courses
  • 8+ years of applicable experience in analog electrical hardware design, including analog circuit design, A/D converters, low-noise circuits, analysis, and simulation
  • Knowledgeable in analog circuit design, microcontroller-based board-level design, schematic entry, printed circuit board design and layout, and prototype verification and testing.
  • Experience with linear and switch-mode power supplies and galvanic isolation techniques
  • Experience with EMC requirements and design techniques
  • A track record of successful product enhancements and introductions
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future

Nice To Haves

  • Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited program
  • Experience with international safety and hazardous location design, including intrinsic safety
  • Familiarity with industrial digital communication protocols
  • Familiarity with data acquisition software (e.g. C#, LabView)
  • Experience interfacing electronics to process sensors

Responsibilities

  • Apply technical expertise in the development of products and processes.
  • Make decisions related to the development of new technology and application of technical solutions with high levels of technical risk.
  • Manage and lead complex design efforts of new products or significant redesign efforts.
  • Provide technical leadership for multiple products.
  • Apply working knowledge of applicable technology and industry/company standards to achieve robust product designs.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to identify and use proven technologies, leverage existing product designs, and create original circuit designs.
  • Prepare required technical documentation and data.
  • Assist and/or lead new product development activities such as analog circuit design, peer reviews, product qualification planning and testing.
  • Assure products are tested and documented to Rosemount quality requirements.
  • Ensure high standards of engineering rigor are applied to resolving technical issues and making technical decisions.
  • Prepare detailed plans necessary to complete assigned projects.
  • Identify assistance needed by other functional groups to complete engineering tasks.
  • Periodically provide technical support of products to ensure required product functionality, quality and conformance is maintained.
  • Review and approve engineering change notifications.
  • Manage and execute cost savings opportunities.
  • Assist with the resolution of customer inquiries.
