About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a Principal Air Quality Engineer to join their Integrated Sustainability and Compliance (ISC) team in a Texas office (Austin, Dallas, or Houston). This is a hybrid role involving office work, remote work, and client site visits. The ISC team is a rapidly growing and strategically important area for Arcadis. The role involves working with leadership to expand the Gulf Coast air quality practice and support key clients. Responsibilities include leading air quality projects such as permitting, compliance, regulatory strategy, emissions inventory, and air dispersion modeling. The position also supports sales and marketing efforts through client meetings, proposal writing, and technical project leadership. As a consultant, you will collaborate with staff, contribute to diverse projects, drive innovation, and build technical communities within the EHS space. This role offers career growth opportunities and involves mentoring junior staff. The role includes performing a wide variety of air quality services for clients in industries such as chemical, oil and gas, manufacturing, automotive, and transportation. While the project focus is air quality, there will be opportunities to participate in other environmental compliance projects within the ISC group. Apply extensive knowledge of Federal and State (Texas and Louisiana focus) air quality regulations to air permitting and compliance projects. Collaborate with Arcadis’ air team and mentor junior staff to ensure application of regulatory knowledge, analytical techniques, and excellent project delivery. Perform environmental compliance audits with a focus on air quality and EPCRA. Manage project teams to deliver high quality, on time, on budget project deliverables. Work in partnership with the ISC team to provide strategic multi-disciplined EHS solutions to key clients. Travel up to 10-25% is required for project and client needs, potentially including single overnight trips. Most work can be performed from an Arcadis office location or remotely.

Requirements

Minimum of 15 years’ experience
Bachelors or Masters degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering; or related engineering field

Nice To Haves

Masters degree in Chemical or Environmental Engineering; or related engineering field
PE registration in Texas and/or Louisiana
Gulf Coast Chemical and Oil & Gas air quality experience

Responsibilities

Lead Gulf Coast based air quality projects such as air permitting and compliance support, regulatory applicability and strategy development, emissions inventory development and reporting, engine and ozone depleting substances compliance, greenhouse gas emissions and sustainability reporting and/or air dispersion modeling.
Support sales and marketing efforts in the Gulf Coast by meeting with clients, writing proposals, and leading technical projects to deliver excellent Air Quality Services.
Apply extensive knowledge of Federal and State (with a focus on Texas and Louisiana) air quality regulations to air permitting and compliance projects.
Work closely with the North American Air Quality and Noise Community of Practice Leaders to grow the Gulf Coast air practice through supporting client and proposal development activities.
Lead air permitting projects such as Permits-by-Rule, minor NSR, FESOP, Title V, PSD (and PSD avoidance), and Non-Attainment NSR (and NNSR Avoidance).
Collaborate with Arcadis’ air team and mentor junior staff to ensure application of regulatory knowledge, analytical techniques, and excellent project delivery.
Perform environmental compliance audits with a focus on air quality and EPCRA.
Manage project teams to deliver high quality, on time, on budget project deliverables.
Work in partnership with the ISC team to provide strategic multi-disciplined EHS solutions to key clients.
