About The Position

As a Principal AI Architect/Engineer, you design and build AI-powered solutions to aid our AI Architecture practices, governance and AI initiatives across the bank. You will lead the development of AI standards and patterns to align with the rapidly evolving AI platforms. You will collaborate and provide architectural leadership to RBC's engineering teams to ensure solutions are well-designed, reusable across business lines and aligned to our AI technology strategy. You will partner with lines of business to understand their AI needs, identify opportunities and help architect working AI solutions that create real value. You will lead specific POCs for AI technology, managing the engagement with vendors and engineering partners.

We need a strong hands on Python coder, this is not a role for someone who wants to stay at the whiteboard.
You have a strong grasp of modern AI technologies and frameworks, stay current with a rapidly evolving landscape, and enjoy getting hands-on with emerging tools such as LangChain, LangGraph, and other AI orchestration frameworks to rapidly prototype evaluate, and deliver innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

Leads the engagement with engineering and business teams to design and deliver scalable, secure and maintainable AI systems.
Ensures solutions are built on the standardized platforms and patterns, are fit for purpose, and can be practically implemented and maintained in production.
Driving reuse of capabilities will be a key focus.
Translate business and technical problems into implementable solution designs, then lead hands-on development to help bring those designs to life.
Lead the Architecture mindset by partnering with AI engineering teams, to capture and review their designs, providing strong architectural guidance and opinions.
Research technologies and lead the engagement with vendors/partners to evaluate.
Collaborate with RBC's engineering teams to ensure solutions are well-designed and aligned to our technology strategy.
Partners with lines of business to understand their needs and deliver working AI solutions that create real value.
Lead the creation of AI standards and patterns to help make the rapidly evolving AI platforms easily consumable and well governed.
Lead the creation of tools, Agents and MCPs to support and automate our architecture practice.
