About The Position

This position plans and implements the design, manufacture, installation and/or maintenance of electrical systems and apparatus, such as electric motors, machinery controls, lighting, wiring and power systems/devices, for the generation, transmission and control of electric power. The role requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in the job discipline or field, using advanced techniques, theories, and processes to complete work. The engineer will lead others to solve complex problems, work independently with guidance only in the most complex situations, and may lead functional teams or projects, exercising consistent discretion and judgment.

Requirements

Associate's Degree and 8-10 years' experience
Engineering degree required
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Responsibilities

Designs, develops, and tests electrical equipment, components, circuits, or systems.
Applies mathematical and engineering principles and methods to designs.
Performs extensive testing and validation of designs to ensure reliability, performance, and safety standards are achieved.
Conducts research and studies new technologies to innovate and design solutions or products.
Designs and develops new brushed and multiphase brushless DC electric motors.
Improves existing designs to reduce cost, improve performance or manufacturability.
Conducts detailed reviews of customer specifications.
Prepares or directs preparation of product and/or system layout and detailed drawings and schematics.
Performs design experiments related to motor designs and develops test methods, from concept to planning and execution stage.
Directs and coordinates manufacturing and testing of prototype products and/or systems.
Assists in troubleshooting prototype building and/or production when necessary.
Conducts motor performance predictions by analyses of actual data and through the development of design related algorithms in addition to the existing methods.
May act as project engineer support on selected projects.
Interfaces with customers as required to support existing products or for new development opportunities.
