The Primary Therapist provides services planned to restore the client to optimum social and health adjustment. This role involves performing intakes, evaluations, orientation, admissions, treatment planning, counseling, documentation, discharge planning, and referral of substance abuse patients. The therapist will develop and document individualized treatment plans, work with physicians and other personnel in client evaluation and treatment, and assist clients and families through various therapy modalities. Responsibilities also include maintaining client records, assisting with utilization reviews, developing and facilitating group sessions, identifying opportunities for program improvement, and participating in continuing education. The role ensures compliance with legal issues such as patient confidentiality and risk management.
