About The Position

Mission Prep, part of AMFM Healthcare, is seeking a compassionate and experienced Primary Therapist III to join our residential adolescent treatment program. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of adolescents facing mental health challenges, while contributing to the success of our growing program. The Primary Therapist III plays a pivotal role in overseeing the delivery of high-quality clinical services in one of AMFM Healthcare’s core behavioral health programs. Reporting to the Executive Director, this leader ensures clients receive personalized, therapeutic, and impactful care. The Clinical Supervisor also supports and develops a team of clinicians while maintaining a strong focus on program integrity, compliance, and continuous improvement. This position combines hands-on clinical oversight with strategic leadership—ideal for a licensed clinician who’s ready to inspire change and build a career in behavioral health leadership.

Requirements

  • LMFT, LPC, LCSW in the state of Virginia.
  • Active/current registration with the Virginia Dept of Health Professions.
  • Must hold appropriate clinical licensure with board-approved supervisor status to provide clinical oversight and supervision in accordance with state regulatory standards.
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Psychology, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy).
  • Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with EMDR and working with adolescents in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical evaluation, biopsychosocial assessment, client diagnosis, and interpretive summary.
  • Prepare person-centered treatment plans, case management, consultation, education, and referral as needed.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions including crisis counseling to individuals, groups and families as needed.
  • Facilitate individual psychotherapy sessions and group therapy.
  • Review and sign clinical documentation completed by provisional-level clinicians to ensure compliance with licensure requirements, utilization review standards, and quality of client care.
  • Provide guidance, clinical supervision, and support by reviewing and signing documentation for interns, non-licensed clinicians, and, as needed, other staff in supportive roles (i.e., Client Support Coordinators, Clinical Mentors, Client Coordinators, Resident Coordinators, Case Managers).
  • Provide support to graduate-level practicum students by offering guidance, supervision as required by their academic program, and reviewing documentation and signing as needed.
  • Provide services in accordance to organization’s policies and procedures and established Mental Health and Substance Abuse Standards as well as within the scope of practice of the therapist.
  • Evaluate the individual and family systems as well as assess clients functioning within work, family, and routines of daily living and identify areas needing continued support, resources, and treatment in order to assist clients.
  • Maintain Electronic Health Records to reflect the course of treatment and provide required documentation.
  • Prepare pre-certification/authorization information to insurance utilization review team and subsequent concurrent review (continued stay) clinical reports per medical necessity criteria.
  • Provide emergency crisis services during work hours and after hours as assigned.
  • Attend staff meetings, supervisory conferences, training, and other activities, which ensure effective and efficient functioning of clinical operations.
  • Adhere to organizational standards and policies and procedures, code of ethics, legal aspects of clinical practice, professional standards, duty to warn, abuse and neglect reporting policies and procedures and exercise professionalism at all times.
