About The Position

Nuview Academy is seeking a Primary Special Education Teacher for a ten-month position. This role involves providing instructional services to students with behavioral disorders, such as ERI/ODD/ADHD, using a therapeutic approach. The teacher will be responsible for analyzing student needs, developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), preparing progress reports, and conducting parent/guardian conferences. This position requires ongoing coordination and communication of student progress with various stakeholders, including program administrators, nonpublic school administrators, teachers, parents/guardians, and sending district staff. The teacher will demonstrate diverse teaching strategies, establish positive classroom management, and maintain professional competence and confidentiality. The role also involves participation in curriculum programs to enhance student learning and adherence to administrative directives and Board policies. Teaching assignments may change based on the referral system and legal mandates for specialized instructional services. Additional duties may be assigned by the Superintendent or their designee.

Requirements

  • Classroom experience with students with behavioral disorders such as but not limited to: ERI/ ODD/ ADHD using a theraputic approach
  • DOE TOSD/TOH Certificate
  • New Jersey State Department of Education Certification

Responsibilities

  • Instructional services to assigned students including analysis and assessment of student needs, scheduling of assigned students, developing and implementing individual student educational plans, preparing written student progress reports as required and provide parent/guardian conferences as needed
  • Ongoing coordination and communication of student progress to the program administrators, nonpublic school administrators, teachers, parent and/or guardian and to the sending resident district and staff
  • Demonstrating a variety of teaching strategies in relationship to student learning styles
  • Establishing and maintaining positive rapport and management in the classroom to enhance student behavior according to district policy and existing laws
  • Maintain professional competence, confidentiality and demonstrate a willingness to improve performance
  • Participate in curricula program to enhance student learning
  • Perform all duties in accordance with administrative directives, procedures and regulations and Board Policies.
