About The Position

Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS) is seeking a part-time Primary Care Physician to provide professional medical services within an integrated, team-based, whole-person, trauma-informed primary health care setting. The physician will work 10 to 29 hours weekly at the Minnie Jones Health Center, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including family medicine practitioners, dentists, and behavioral health clinicians, with on-site pharmacy services. The role involves clinical leadership and supervision of advanced practice nurses and physician assistants, and indirect supervision of medical support staff. WNCCHS is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) dedicated to serving the underserved.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy.
  • Completion of residency from an accredited program.
  • Current unrestricted North Carolina MD or DO licensure.
  • Current DEA licensure.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Must be Medicaid and Medicare eligible.
  • Must have or be able to obtain admitting privileges to the local hospital.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledgeable about current standards, methods, and procedures for the delivery of evidence-based care in an efficient, organized, and accurate manner.
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills to work efficiently with others to provide new ideas and help inspire staff and management.
  • Flexibility to work with a variety of people differing in ages, personalities, and backgrounds.
  • Demonstrates leadership, teaching, and evaluation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Board Certification is preferred.
  • AAHIVM Certification is preferred.
  • Previous medical office or FQHC experience is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Russian.
  • Experience in public health.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional medical services to complement the delivery of integrated team-based, whole-person, trauma-informed primary health care services.
  • Effectively collaborate with, and delegate to members of the interdisciplinary health care team.
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to advanced practice nurses (APN) & physician assistants (PA).
  • Provide indirect supervision of medical support staff.
