About The Position

Western North Carolina Community Health Services (WNCCHS) is seeking a part-time Primary Care Physician to provide professional medical services within an integrated, team-based, whole-person, trauma-informed primary health care setting. The physician will work 10 to 29 hours weekly at the Minnie Jones Health Center, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team including family medicine practitioners, dentists, and behavioral health clinicians, with on-site pharmacy services. The role involves clinical leadership and supervision of advanced practice nurses and physician assistants, and indirect supervision of medical support staff. WNCCHS is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) dedicated to serving the underserved.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited school of medicine with a degree of Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy.
Completion of residency from an accredited program.
Current unrestricted North Carolina MD or DO licensure.
Current DEA licensure.
Current BLS certification.
Must be Medicaid and Medicare eligible.
Must have or be able to obtain admitting privileges to the local hospital.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledgeable about current standards, methods, and procedures for the delivery of evidence-based care in an efficient, organized, and accurate manner.
Collaboration and teamwork skills to work efficiently with others to provide new ideas and help inspire staff and management.
Flexibility to work with a variety of people differing in ages, personalities, and backgrounds.
Demonstrates leadership, teaching, and evaluation skills.

Nice To Haves

Board Certification is preferred.
AAHIVM Certification is preferred.
Previous medical office or FQHC experience is preferred.
Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or Russian.
Experience in public health.

Responsibilities

Provide professional medical services to complement the delivery of integrated team-based, whole-person, trauma-informed primary health care services.
Effectively collaborate with, and delegate to members of the interdisciplinary health care team.
Provide clinical leadership and supervision to advanced practice nurses (APN) & physician assistants (PA).
Provide indirect supervision of medical support staff.
