About The Position

Primary Care Physician Assistant Patients do not need another handoff. They need a clinician who can sort the urgent from the routine, start treatment the same day, and stay with them until the plan is working. In this primary care role, you will own visits, decisions, and follow-through so adults and families leave with a clear next step—not a longer wait. Your work expands access, tightens chronic-disease control, and keeps preventable problems out of the emergency department.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited PA program, NCCPA-certified, and licensed or immediately eligible in the practice state.
  • DEA registration, or ability to obtain it, if controlled-substance prescribing is part of the agreement.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and manage common adult primary care problems, including hypertension, diabetes, infections, musculoskeletal complaints, and preventive care.
  • Sound judgment on when to treat, when to refer, and when to seek the collaborating physician.
  • Proficiency with an ambulatory EHR and same-day documentation that supports safe coding and continuity.
  • Clear communication with patients of varied health literacy and with the care team under time pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Complete a full daily clinic schedule with accurate histories, exams, and same-visit plans for acute, chronic, and preventive needs.
  • Independently manage common primary care conditions within the collaborative agreement, and escalate atypical, unstable, or high-risk cases without delay.
  • Raise preventive screening completion and chronic-disease control for your panel, including hypertension, diabetes, and respiratory disease.
  • Resolve clinically appropriate issues in clinic so avoidable urgent and emergency referrals decline.
  • Close notes the same day so orders, refills, coding, and follow-up do not stall.
  • Coordinate with nurses, medical assistants, and physicians so results, referrals, and care gaps are acted on—not lost.
  • Earn return visits and completed follow-up by explaining diagnoses and plans in plain language.
