About The Position

Medavie Health Services West (MHSW) is seeking to fill 2 permanent part-time Primary Care Paramedic positions. Medavie Health Services West is responsible for the optimal operation and management of an integrated, service-led primary health care organization, operating ground and air ambulance services, medical communications, Mobile Integrated Health/Community Paramedicine programs, 911 Public Safety, 811 Telehealth, home health care, as well as clinical training. Medavie Health Services West (MHS West) Crestvue proudly provides emergency and medical services to Yorkton, Saskatchewan, delivering innovative EMS solutions focused on bringing high-quality care to patients when and where they need it. Requirements

  • Must meet all legislated requirements for Primary Care Paramedics in Saskatchewan.
  • Must be currently registered with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics as a Primary Care Paramedic or eligible for registration through the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.
  • Candidates must be authorized to practice as a Primary Care Paramedic, hold an unrestricted licence, and be able to perform the full scope of duties associated with the position. Where a candidate holds a restricted licence, Medavie Health Services West reserves the right to assess the restriction against the essential duties and operational requirements of the role and consider the application on a case-by-case basis.
  • Must be in good standing with the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to work efficiently as a member of the team and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work all shifts as assigned, maintaining a good attendance record.
  • Must have a high regard for confidentiality.
  • Must have excellent work habits and exhibit professionalism.
  • Ability to provide proof of successful completion of the Physical Ability Test (PAT) within the past 12 months.
  • A copy (front and back) of a valid Saskatchewan Class 4 Driver's License (or equivalent).
  • A current ITLS and CPR C for Health Care Providers.
  • A current (within last 60 days) valid and clean criminal record check.
  • A current (within last 30 days) driver’s abstract.
  • A current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check issued within the last 60 days.

Responsibilities

  • Independent primary clinical care.
  • Safe transportation of individuals, including emergency and non-emergency responses, as well as inter-facility transfers.
  • Maintain and operate ambulances and related equipment in accordance with patient needs and public safety.
  • Clinical expectations and responsibilities for Primary Care Paramedics are based on the current National Occupational Competency Profile (NOCP) and the Canadian Paramedic Competency Framework (CPCF), Saskatchewan College of Paramedics standards, and the Saskatchewan College of Paramedics registration requirements and Medavie Health Services West policies, procedures, and protocols.
