About The Position

Valor Healthcare is seeking a PRN Primary Care Nurse Practitioner for their Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Copperas Cove. This role involves providing prescribed medical treatment and personal care services to patients under the direction of a physician or mid-level provider. The Nurse Practitioner will collaborate with the PACT Team (Primary Care Provider, RN, Medical Assistant) and expanded PACT Team, including family/caregivers and community services, to develop patient care plans. This is a PRN assignment.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and an accredited program for nurse practitioner (MSN required), including preceptorship.
Certification by applicable professional organization.
Minimum one-year clinical experience (three years preferred) as a CRNP within the last 4 years in a related primary care or ambulatory care setting; government healthcare environment preferred.
Must be credentialed and remain in good standing through the Veterans Health Administration (VA).
Must comply with and maintain all requirements for a valid, unrestricted license in the state of desired employment, or in any U.S. state or territory, depending on VA contractual requirements.
Current certification in Basic Life Support (must be renewed periodically as specified by the certifying agency – AHA valid for two years, e.g.) and in ACLS as specified by individual VAMC contract.
Current, unrestricted Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration.
Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Strong computer skills.
Energetic and optimistic demeanor.
Strong service mentality and a focus on achieving all aspects of defined service standards.
This is considered a safety sensitive position.

Responsibilities

Actively diagnoses and treats veterans under the direction and responsibility of a supervising physician.
Examines patients for symptoms of organic or congenital disorders.
Develops and implements patient management plans and assists in the provision of continuity of care.
Orders and performs diagnostic tests (e.g., x-ray, electrocardiogram, laboratory tests) and interprets results for deviations from normal, providing patient notification and follow-up care.
Counsels patients on prescription medications, educates patients, assesses mental health issues, and provides routine health maintenance.
Evaluates patient records from external medical providers and works with these patients utilizing VA rules for co-managed care.
Completes all clinical reminders due at the time of each patient visit.
Completes medical record documentation within 24 hours of a patient encounter.
Complies with all VA guidelines regarding appropriate and timely response to patient requests, alerts, notifications, consults, orders, lab results, and diagnostic studies.
Complies with the VA formulary process and consult protocols.
Complies with all VA guidelines regarding appropriate and timely clinical documentation, including the completion of all encounters by close of business.
Complies with all VA and company training requirements.
Fulfills compliance requirements of the Office of Inspector General (OIG), Joint Commission (JC), Environment of Care (EOC) oversight, lab compliance, and other related items.
Remains focused on achieving excellent clinical outcomes through the specified VA guidelines.
Provides excellent customer service to each veteran, colleagues, and clinic visitors, both in person and over the phone.
Participates in the clinic’s outreach events to support enrollment initiatives.
Supports patient enrollment and retention by providing guidance on scheduling, follow-up visits, or nurse visits.
Embraces and supports new initiatives, whether clinical or operational.
