About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (NP) on an inpatient psychiatric unit. The role involves rounding, admissions, and managing the primary care needs of patients undergoing inpatient psychiatric treatment. The average census is 52 patients. The patient population ranges from ages 10 to geriatric. The EMR system used is Cerner. Credentialing is expected to take 60 days.

Requirements

  • Active Massachusetts licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS certification
  • Minimum 2-years Primary Care experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in Massachusetts
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])

  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a healthcare team
  • Candidates with at least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
