About The Position

Jamison Professional Services, Inc. (“Jamison”) is seeking a qualified and motivated candidate for the position of Primary Care Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The LPN will provide direct and indirect nursing support to Veterans at the Dayton VA Medical Center, working as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team. The role involves assisting with patient assessment, care planning, treatment, documentation, patient education, and other nursing services within the authorized scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a professional nursing program approved by the appropriate State accrediting agency and accredited by ACEN or CCNE at the time the program was completed.
  • Current Ohio LPN license.
  • Current CPR certification through an American Heart Association vendor.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of direct patient care experience within the last three (3) years.
  • Ability to successfully complete applicable VA credentialing requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Department of Veterans Affairs healthcare experience.
  • Experience in Primary Care, Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Cardiac Monitoring, Emergency Room, or Intensive Care environments.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain patient histories and pertinent family histories.
  • Assist with assessment of patients and planning of appropriate nursing care.
  • Document patient care and treatment in the electronic medical record.
  • Communicate relevant patient information to nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Reassess patient conditions and assist with revisions to care plans.
  • Assess and document patient responses to prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Assist with emergency interventions, therapies, and diagnostic procedures within scope of practice.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding prescribed medications, therapies, and procedures.
  • Operate applicable clinical and emergency equipment within authorized scope of practice.
  • Participate in patient discharge planning as appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and complete healthcare documentation.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team activities, staff meetings, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain professional and respectful interactions with Veterans, family members, and healthcare staff.
  • Follow all applicable patient safety, infection control, privacy, and VA healthcare requirements.
