About The Position

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Jr. Preventive Maintenance Electrical Technician to support the upkeep and reliability of our electrical systems through routine maintenance tasks and collaborative troubleshooting. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to build a career in electrical maintenance by working alongside experienced technicians and participating in ongoing technical training.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance prior to start date with Leidos is required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, repair, or installation.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical diagrams, schematics, and electrical codes (e.g., NEC).
  • Experience using electrical test equipment such as voltmeters, ammeters, and insulation testers.
  • Familiarity with vehicle or industrial electrical systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Active TS/SCI with Poly clearance
  • Completion of a formal electrical training program or apprenticeship.
  • Electrical certifications (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, Master Electrician, or equivalent).
  • Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) or building automation systems (BAS).
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency practices and retrofits.
  • Experience mentoring junior technicians or managing small projects.
  • Completion of a formal automotive or mechanical training program.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain electrical systems and components in vehicles, machinery, and stationary equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical malfunctions using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, motor analyzers, and factory manuals.
  • Disassemble and repair electrical assemblies including alternators, starters, generators, lighting systems, control panels, relays, and wiring harnesses.
  • Replace or repair defective parts such as switches, sensors, motors, circuit boards, fuses, and connectors.
  • Perform routine testing and calibration of electrical systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Interpret and apply wiring schematics, electrical codes, and technical specifications.
  • Conduct system upgrades and retrofits as needed for improved performance and energy efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and electrical codes in all maintenance activities.
  • Document work performed, generate maintenance reports, and assist with inventory control of electrical components.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior technicians or support personnel.
