About The Position

This role serves as a member of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) & Human Trafficking team, focusing on preventing and responding to human trafficking. The coordinator will assist schools, parents, community members, child and youth-serving agencies, and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities include facilitating evidence-based prevention education curricula and formal training statewide, supporting staff and the State Task Force Subcommittees in identifying training needs, coordinating events, and measuring impact. The position involves providing professional training to the child welfare community to identify at-risk individuals and victims of sex or labor trafficking. Additionally, the coordinator will share relevant information for online training, prevention education calendars, social media, and newsletters. Continuous review of professional sources for emerging best practices is expected. The role also entails coordinating and increasing access to human trafficking prevention education across South Carolina's schools and youth-serving organizations, building partnerships, and implementing the Task Force's Train-the-Trainer Program. Facilitating the delivery of the TraffickProofSC curriculum, providing technical assistance, and offering strategic/administrative support to State Task Force Subcommittee(s) are also key duties. Research and integration of evidence-based practices into prevention education, monitoring emerging trends, and building partnerships with educational institutions and community stakeholders are crucial. The position serves as a liaison to state work groups and attends relevant meetings statewide. Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or five (5) plus years of relevant experience working with youth.
  • Familiarity with topics related to human trafficking.
  • Position may require overnight travel, work on evenings, and weekends.
  • Position requires a valid driver's license and frequent driving duties.
  • Position may require transporting files.
  • Position requires frequent stooping and/or bending.
  • DRUG SCREENING, CREDIT CHECK, DELINQUENT TAX CHECK, SLED BACKGROUND CHECK, AND GRIEVANCE CHECK REQUIRED.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a member of the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) & Human Trafficking team, assisting with supporting schools, parents, community members, child and youth-serving agencies, and other stakeholders in preventing and responding to the crime of human trafficking.
  • Facilitate evidence-based, trauma-informed prevention education curricula and formal training statewide.
  • Support staff members and the State Task Force Subcommittees in identifying training needs, coordinating such events, and measuring attendee impact and satisfaction.
  • Provide professional training to members of the child welfare community to help identify at-risk and potential victims of sex trafficking and/or labor trafficking.
  • Share relevant information for online training and prevention education calendar as well as updates to social media and the TraffickProofSC and Task Force newsletters.
  • Continually review professional sources for emerging best and evidence-based practices.
  • Coordinate and increase access to human trafficking prevention education across South Carolina's schools and youth-serving organizations.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with schools, school districts and youth-serving organizations.
  • Successfully coordinate and implement the Task Force's Train-the-Trainer Program to expand prevention education capacity.
  • Facilitate and support the delivery of TraffickProofSC curriculum within schools, youth-serving organizations, and community settings while providing technical assistance and guidance to trainers, educators, and community partners.
  • Provide strategic and administrative support to assigned State Task Force Subcommittee(s) to ensure progress toward annual goals.
  • Assist with stakeholder engagement, meeting coordination, partnership development, and collaborative initiatives that strengthen statewide prevention and outreach efforts.
  • Conduct and integrate research and evidence-based practices into prevention education, training, and resource development.
  • Monitor emerging trends, legislative requirements, and best practices related to youth prevention education and incorporate findings into statewide initiatives and curriculum delivery strategies.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with educational institutions, community stakeholders, and local organizations to support the implementation and expansion of prevention education initiatives.
  • Serve as a liaison to state work groups, stakeholder meetings, and other state and local initiatives.
  • Attend and support all State Task Force meetings and other relevant meetings statewide.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
