The Preventative Maintenance Technician performs preventative maintenance, inspection, troubleshooting, and minor repair activities for mechanical systems within residence halls and associated Student Affairs facilities. Primary responsibilities include maintaining HVAC equipment, pumps, motors, fans, belts, filters, bearings, and related mechanical building systems to improve reliability, efficiency, safety, and equipment lifespan. This position supports the department’s preventative maintenance program through scheduled inspections, testing, cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, and documentation of building systems. The technician works collaboratively with maintenance shops, project staff, and campus partners to reduce emergency repairs, minimize equipment downtime, and extend the operational life of critical building infrastructure.
