The Preventative Maintenance Attendant performs scheduled preventive maintenance and general cleaning in guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public spaces according to property procedures and standard guidelines. The role includes inspecting and flipping mattresses and box springs; vacuuming behind and underneath furniture; spot-cleaning carpets and upholstery; dusting and touch-up painting and furniture care; cleaning bathrooms and other room surfaces; checking that hardware and appliances are present and working; replacing light fixtures; and inspecting and repairing grout and caulking. Serious maintenance problems, unusual findings, and safety hazards must be reported promptly to a manager or supervisor. The attendant follows the guest room preventive maintenance checklist, completes room maintenance individually and efficiently, and leaves each room clean with equipment and materials removed. Work is evaluated through room inspections by the Director of Engineering or designee. The position involves continuous standing and walking, climbing stairs, and lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds throughout the shift. Prior janitorial or custodial experience is desirable, but no formal education is required.
