About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Pretrial, Probation and Parole, is recruiting for a Pretrial, Probation and Parole Administrator 1. This position is being recruited Statewide; final location is based on the location of the selected candidate. As part of the management team (Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, Directors of the Division of Pretrial, Probation & Parole, Institutions and Administrative Services), the Pretrial, Probation and Parole Administrator 1 position provides direct supervision of PO 3’s and offices in Region II. Job duties include performance management, participating in supervisor meetings as well as meetings with community stakeholders, assisting with special projects, development of policy and procedure as well as standard operating procedures, staff training coordination, data collection and analysis, participate in recruitment and hiring of staff and ongoing evaluation of how the office is operating. The position requires excellent communication with both office staff as well as division management.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age and a United States citizen or a United States National.
  • Must have a high school or home school diploma recognized or certified by a state or a local school district within a state as having met that state's graduation requirement; or have a General Educational Development certificate.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license issued within the United States at time of appointment.
  • Must not have been convicted of any felony or a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence by a civilian court of Alaska, the United States, another state or territory, or by a military court.
  • Must not have been convicted during the past ten (10) years by a civilian court of Alaska, the United States, another state or territory, or by a military court of a crime of dishonesty or moral turpitude, of a crime that resulted in serious physical injury to another person, or of two or more driving under the influence offenses.
  • Must not have illegally manufactured, transported, or sold a controlled substance during the past 10 years, provided you were at least 21 years of age at the time.
  • Must not have illegally used a Schedule IA, IIA, IIIA, IVA, or VA controlled substance during the past 5 years, provided you were at least 21 years of age at the time.
  • Must not have used marijuana during the last year, provided you were at least 21 years of age at the time.
  • Must not have been denied certification by the Alaska Police Standards Council or the responsible certifying agency in any other issuing jurisdiction unless the denial, revocation, or surrender has been rescinded.
  • Must not have ever used a controlled substance while employed as a certifiable municipal, state, federal peace officer, correctional officer, adult probation officer, or military law enforcement officer.
  • Must be fingerprinted and pass a criminal history check.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • If convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, you may not hold this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with an academy function or oversight.
  • Experience with community contracts or the equivalent.
  • Experience with administration of a regional law enforcement district or agency.
