About The Position

This position will Interview felony and misdemeanor defendants in the Douglas County Detention Center for the purpose of establishing and verifying residence, employment, and past criminal history to assist the District/County courts in setting appropriate bail bonds. Generally, the hiring range is $49,916-$62,395 annually. Qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position will be taken into consideration when determining hiring salary.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.
  • One year of experience working in the criminal justice system or related experience.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • May require taking an Oath of Office for Eighteenth Judicial District Bond Commissioner.
  • This position requires successful completion of a criminal background check including fingerprinting through a national database.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, social science or a similar related field is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing arresting documents of individuals booked into the Douglas County Jail to determine which individuals will need a bond report completed and then meeting with those defendants in the jail to conduct a brief interview.
  • Entering the defendant’s information in the Division’s computer database system to create a new bond report.
  • Inputting a defendant’s information in the Colorado Crime Information Center / National Crime Information Center (NCIC/CCIC) database system, the Colorado Judicial Information System, and the Denver Courts System to identify if a defendant has a criminal history record and determining which criminal records need to be entered in the Division’s computer database system to be included in the report that will be submitted to court.
  • Analyzing case events for the applicable criminal history records to interpret which case events/activities will be used for the risk assessment tool, and accurately score the assessment tool which will be filed with the court as part of the official bond report.
  • Responding to GPS issues/violations that occur after hours which requires problem solving and equipment trouble shooting.
  • Communicates with the on-call Judge, District Attorney, and law enforcement to execute applications to revoke bond when appropriate.
  • Installing GPS monitoring devices on defendants prior to their release from jail and ensuring equipment is set up correctly and all documents are completed.
  • Performing day-to-day administrative tasks such as filing, updating records, and processing paperwork.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • In the event of an emergency/disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected/Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required.
