About The Position

This role is responsible for assisting Press Operators with daily production activities, including the operation and monitoring of production equipment. The worker will load and unload materials, inspect and package components, and report any equipment malfunctions or production concerns. The position requires adherence to work instructions, SOPs, and supervisory direction to maintain efficient production and accurate record-keeping. Depending on training and department needs, employees may also perform tasks related to various manufacturing processes such as Draw Press Operations, Trim Press Operations, Automated Cell Operations, Finish Washer Operations, Annealer Operations, Grinding, Buffing & Finishing, and Material Handling. Quality inspection and adherence to safety and 6S standards are crucial aspects of the role. The job emphasizes teamwork, communication, and a willingness to learn new processes and equipment.

Requirements

  • Previous manufacturing, production, pressroom, machine operation, or related experience preferred.
  • Experience in at least one of the following areas is beneficial: Pressroom operations, Draw press operation, Trim press operation, Automated manufacturing equipment, Annealing, Finish washer operation, Grinding, buffing, or polishing, Material handling, Metal fabrication or related manufacturing.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn new equipment and processes.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions, SOPs, and production documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.
  • Dependable attendance and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling materials as required.
  • Reliable, safety-conscious, mechanically inclined, and willing to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Press Operators with daily production activities.
  • Operate and monitor production equipment.
  • Load and unload materials and work-in-process.
  • Inspect, sort, stack, and package finished and partially finished components.
  • Monitor equipment operation and report malfunctions or production concerns.
  • Follow work instructions, product routing, SOPs, and supervisory direction.
  • Complete required production forms, records, and documentation accurately.
  • Perform work associated with various manufacturing processes including Draw Press Operations, Trim Press Operations, Automated Cell Operations, Finish Washer Operations, Annealer Operations, Grinding, Buffing & Finishing, and Material Handling.
  • Inspect products and components for defects, dimensions, cosmetic requirements, and other specifications.
  • Perform required quality checks according to WIP tags, work instructions, SOPs, and established quality procedures.
  • Identify and report quality concerns, defects, or process deviations.
  • Maintain accurate quality and production records.
  • Take appropriate corrective action as instructed.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and established safe work practices.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 6S standards.
  • Follow all applicable Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and follow established procedures for safe equipment operation.
  • Report safety hazards, equipment malfunctions, spills, or other unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Maintain efficient production flow and support department productivity goals.
  • Monitor equipment operation, production rates, and downtime.
  • Ensure materials and components are available to support production.
  • Report deviations from established production standards.
  • Work with team members to meet daily production and delivery requirements.
  • Work cooperatively with coworkers, group leaders, supervisors, maintenance, and quality personnel.
  • Communicate production, quality, safety, and equipment concerns promptly.
  • Assist other employees and higher-grade personnel as directed.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn additional equipment, processes, and operations.
