IL Press Support - First Shift
About The Position
Abbott Label, a family-owned label manufacturing company with plants in Texas, Arizona, Georgia, and Illinois, has an immediate opening for a Press Support position in their fast-paced Itasca plant. This role is responsible for staging Flexo Presses with materials and tooling for efficient workflow, assisting with press make-ready with a main emphasis on printing presses, and aiding in Quality Control in the pressroom. The position may also involve running a machine or assisting with maintenance needs as directed by a supervisor. The company is willing to train the right person and offers great benefits.
Requirements
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent Mechanical Skills.
- Punctual and Reliable.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 2+ Years Manufacturing/Warehouse experience required.
- Able to work with a manual and electric pallet jack.
- Able to bend, twist, and kneel.
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in Narrow Web Printing Industry preferred.
- Vocational/technical school training preferred.
- Previous related experience preferred.
- Ability to use forklift is a positive, but not mandatory.
Responsibilities
- Staging raw material, ink, and tooling to each Flexo Press.
- Assisting press operators to ensure the make-ready process is completed efficiently.
- Returning left-over material and tooling to their designated locations.
- Maintaining raw material inventory using the FIFO (First-In, First-Out) procedure.
- Interacting with shipping and receiving departments for inventory control.
- Helping to maintain production tooling (dies, perfs, mags, print cylinders, anilox inventory) in order.
- Maintaining pressroom cleanliness and organization.
- Assisting with finishing needs as directed by the supervisor.
- Mounting plates.
- Mixing ink (responsible for Ink Technician duties).
- Working with ink vendors and training press operators on good ink management techniques.
- Collaborating with maintenance to ensure all components function properly.
