About The Position

The press operator is responsible for set-up and operation of printing equipment to meet quality and productivity requirements per customer specification.

Requirements

Minimum three years’ experience working on flexographic print presses
High School Diploma or equivalent
Must be able to read standard and metric measuring tape
This position has operations that require muscular coordination, proper lifting techniques and required lifting up to 75 pounds time to time.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, and bend
Must be able to use measuring tape
Must be able to understand and carry out detailed written and verbal instructions
Must be able to clearly communicate using production reports and other documents to transfer what transpired during a shift such as material usage, time management, maintenance, and troubleshooting
Must be able to accurately identify color defects or shadings in print quality

Responsibilities

Reviews job tickets to perform setup and operation of flexographic printing press to meet quality and productivity requirements per customer specification
Completes documentation in accurate manner
Change and install print cylinders and anilox rolls
Change deck parts and ink pumps
Set print cylinders into register
Check proper tension settings, verify repeat lengths are correct, curl is minimized, adhesive weights are correct, and roll appearance and colors are correct
Ensure quality and safe operation of equipment
Complete processes within allotted set up time
Setup and use AVT system
Use QC tools to test protocols to monitor quality
Monitors viscosity control
Color match each color to customer specification
Complete viscosity control log
Trains Press Assistant
Follow AIB guidelines
Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows prescribed safety instructions
Participate in ongoing CI and Focus improvement processes
