About The Position

Two hourly Press Operator positions are open in the Press D Department at the Natchitoches EWP Mill. The Press Operator manufactures laminated veneer lumber, keeps the press running consistently, and assures product quality. The wage is $26.36 per hour.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Provide a current resume or detailed education and work history for consideration.
• Ability to lead and promote a proactive safety culture.
• Pass the appropriate specification tests with a 100% score.
• Pass the Press Operator certification checklist.
• Willingness and ability to work overtime as needed, potentially including weekends and holidays, depending on operating conditions.
• Be a self-starter and capable of working in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor press operations and the quality of veneer being processed, checking for pitch, bark, broken corners, and split sheets according to specific instructions.
• Remove unusable veneer sheets and place salvageable veneer in a reclaim cart.
• Monitor the press using monitors and cameras, and observe material being processed. Monitor bays, including infeed lines and layup sections.
• Straighten and realign sheets to ensure an acceptable pattern when veneer becomes jammed or crooked.
• Occasionally use a roller to spread glue on veneer sheets.
• Perform cleanup by shutting down the machine on designated days, locking it out, and cleaning glue using steam and air lines.
• Communicate quality issues effectively to the Billet Tender.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
