About The Position

The Press Operator is responsible for ensuring personal adherence to all Environmental Health and Safety rules and procedures, including housekeeping and proper operation of tools and equipment. This role requires the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key duties include loading and feeding raw material, visually inspecting parts, attaching finished product to take-up, and initiating the process. The operator will also perform partial disassembly of tools to remove stock, inspect for defects, re-assemble, and bar the press. Documentation of manufacturing processes, validation of reel tags, and data entry into the ERP system are also crucial. The role demands understanding of raw material specifications, product quality requirements, and the operation of payoffs, presses, and take-ups. Packaging of returned product and performing specific assignments as instructed by a supervisor are also part of the responsibilities. The position also requires compliance with the PKC Group Environmental, Health and Safety Policy, environmental work instructions, reporting deviations, and participating in EHS training.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math calculations to maintain accurate records.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience with computer operation.
  • Comfortably navigate a windows like system using mouse and keyboard.
  • Ability to move about to various locations of the facility 100% of the work time.
  • Capable of lifting a minimum of 35 pounds.
  • Capable of bending to transfer parts to audit skids as necessary.
  • Able to adapt to change in activities and plans in order to accommodate changing schedules.
  • High level of initiative.
  • Works well in team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure personal adherence to all Environmental Health and Safety rules and procedures, including housekeeping and proper operation of tools and equipment.
  • Prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Load and feed raw material through the tool.
  • Visually inspect parts as instructed utilizing all gages provided.
  • Attach finished product to take-up, start process.
  • Perform partial disassembly of tool to remove end of stock, miss-feed, slugs, shavings, etc.
  • Visually inspect tool for obvious defects.
  • Re-assemble and bar the press through one stroke to check for proper assembly.
  • Document all paperwork required for the manufacturing process.
  • Validate reel tags for correct quantity and part number as per Bill of Materials/Technical Data Sheet.
  • Enter production data into ERP system using computer.
  • Assure that all raw material and reels used in process are as specific per the Bill of Materials/Technical Data Sheet.
  • Understand raw material specifications for proper disposition on scrap.
  • Become familiar with each product and the quality requirements for an acceptable product.
  • Understand operation of the payoffs, press, and take-up and be able to identify problems in the process.
  • Package by weight any returning product from subcontractors that was shipped and received in bulk packaging.
  • Perform specific assignments as instructed by supervisor.
  • Comply with and enforce the PKC Group Environmental, Health and Safety Policy.
  • Comply with the environmental work instructions applicable to their job position.
  • Report any deviation on the environmental operational controls established and communicate improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in EHS training.
