About The Position

American Trim is seeking press operators for their 1st and 3rd shift appliance decorative products operations. The role is responsible for the operation of the production work center, including lube operations, press operations, inspecting parts, and pack out. This involves ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and customer service. The operator will coordinate multiple press operations, control operations through complex automation systems, and produce daily job assignments using WMS. They must follow all safety procedures (JSA, ESA, ASA), ensure environmental compliance, and communicate with supervisors, engineers, and colleagues on other shifts regarding production and quality issues. Responsibilities also include setting dies within the scheduled timeframe, performing routine housekeeping, and other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Mechanical aptitude, above average dexterity
  • Basic math — percentages, decimals (thousandths), addition, subtraction
  • Knowledge of press, dies, and set up operations.
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Experienced in production environment in meeting schedules and rates and be able to change over dies in the standard time.
  • Excitement to learn a new skill

  • Ability to train on 1st shift for 2-4 weeks
  • Be able to lift 50 pounds on a non-repetitive basis.
  • Have the physical strength to slide dies across the bolster plates.
  • Exposure to lubes, oil and grease
  • Requires standing, walking and/or moving about for periods of time in excess of one (1) hour.
  • Requires some sort of repetitive turning and/or lifting motion to be performed.
  • Perform position requirements while wearing eye, ear, foot and/or other protective devices as required.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be worn including but not limited to eyes, ear, foot and/or other protective devices as required.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency is preferred but not required.
  • Blueprint reading is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Operation of the production work center, including lube operations, press operations, inspecting parts and pack out.

  • Follow all of the safety procedures: Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Equipment Safety Analysis (ESA), and Area Safety Analysis (ASA).
  • Ensure that job is run in environmental compliance after instructions from supervisor/environmental group.
  • Communicate with shift supervisor, tooling engineers, quality engineers and other work cell people on opposite shift concerning production problems, quality and related information.
  • Set dies in scheduled time frame to meet customer requirements.
  • Perform routine housekeeping in work area(s) as necessary.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
