About The Position

This role is responsible for operating an offset printing press, ensuring accurate job completion, and maintaining operational efficiency. The Press Operator will plan jobs ahead, examine orders for specifications, and monitor printing operations. They will also be responsible for documentation, press maintenance, color management, and preparing the press for the next shift.

Requirements

  • Ability to enter job completion details accurately into the OMS visual system.
  • Ability to plan jobs ahead and ensure material readiness.
  • Ability to examine job orders for printing quantities, stock specifications, color, and special instructions.
  • Proficiency in filling out job-related documentation (load tags, orders, data analysis, coating documentations).
  • Skill in monitoring feeding and printing operations to maintain operating levels and detect malfunctions.
  • Ability to communicate daily tasks and relay responsibilities to other operators.
  • Capability to clean ink fountains and perform line clearance protocols.
  • Knowledge of greasing and lubricating presses according to manufacturing specifications and maintenance programs.
  • Understanding of quality and procedures for managing color on the printing press.
  • Ability to prepare the press for the next shift.
  • Must be able to work the 3rd shift.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with offset printing presses.

  • Experience in a manufacturing or printing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Enter job completion details accurately into the OMS visual system.
  • Plan several jobs ahead to ensure job materials are ready.
  • Examine job orders to determine quantities for printing, stock specifications, color, or special printing instructions.
  • Fill out all proper documentation relating to job requirements (e.g., load tags, orders, data analysis, coating documentations).
  • Monitor feeding and printing operations to maintain specified operating level and to detect malfunctions.
  • Relay responsibilities to the feeder operator and communicate daily tasks.
  • Help clean up ink fountains during job change over process and perform line clearance protocols from previous job.
  • Grease and lubricate press to manufacturing specifications and per the company’s planned maintenance program.
  • Manage color on the printing press according to quality and procedures.
  • Prepare the press for the next shift, aiming for a running press at shift change.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
