About The Position

The Press Operator 2 sets up, adjusts, operates, and maintains press equipment, including the Heidelberg 640C press. The role performs press make-ready work, prepares the equipment and materials for production, makes color and press adjustments to meet job quality specifications, and carries out routine maintenance and minor repairs. The position is scheduled for a 12-hour front-half night shift: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and every other Thursday. The night shift is eligible for a $2-per-hour shift differential.

Requirements

Thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials and specifications, equipment, and safety requirements.
Ability to read and understand job specifications and use knowledge of press capabilities to select appropriate press usage, settings, and materials.
Ability to make precise settings and adjustments to controls and equipment.
Skill in routine operational maintenance and minor equipment repairs.
Knowledge of the packing pressure needed to achieve proper printing pressure for the job.
Skill in using a micrometer to mount and align printing plates correctly.

Responsibilities

Set up, adjust, operate, and maintain press equipment, including the Heidelberg 640C press.
Perform make-ready tasks for the press, such as hanging plates or installing cylinders, checking plates or cylinders for imperfections and image positioning, preparing blankets, and adjusting tension and register.
Make color corrections and press adjustments before and during production as needed to meet and maintain quality specifications.
Clean and lubricate the press, perform minor repairs, and replace worn or broken parts as required.
Perform periodic maintenance recommended by the manufacturer.
