Press Operator 2 (Sheetfed)
About The Position
The Press Operator 2 (Sheetfed) is responsible for setting up, adjusting, operating, and maintaining press equipment. The role performs press make-ready tasks, including hanging plates or installing cylinders, inspecting them for imperfections and correct image positioning, preparing blankets, and adjusting tension and register. The operator makes necessary color corrections and press adjustments before and during production to meet quality specifications. Duties also include cleaning, lubricating, and maintaining the press, making minor repairs, replacing worn or broken parts, and performing manufacturer-recommended periodic maintenance. The position also trains and mentors new and existing employees on company policies, procedures, and best practices to improve team performance and productivity.
Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials, specifications, equipment, and safety requirements.
- Ability to read and understand job specifications and determine appropriate press usage, press settings, and materials based on press capabilities.
- Ability to make precise settings and adjustments and perform routine equipment maintenance.
- Skill in making minor equipment repairs.
- Knowledge of the packing pressure needed to obtain proper printing pressure for the job.
- Skill in using a micrometer to mount and align printing plates correctly.
