About The Position

The Press Operator 1 sets up, adjusts, operates, and maintains press equipment. The role performs make-ready tasks for the press, including hanging plates or installing cylinders, checking for imperfections and correct image positioning, preparing blankets, and adjusting tension and register. The operator makes color corrections and press adjustments before and during production to meet quality specifications, cleans and lubricates the press, performs minor repairs, and replaces worn or broken parts as needed. The operator may also train other RRD employees. The position works 12-hour shifts, with day or night availability and rotating weekends. Night shifts receive an additional $3.00 per hour.

Requirements

Thorough knowledge of offset printing procedures, materials and specifications, equipment, and safety requirements.
Ability to read and understand job specifications and use knowledge of press capabilities to determine appropriate press usage, settings, and materials.
Ability to make difficult, precise control settings and adjustments and perform routine operational maintenance.
Skill in routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
Knowledge of the packing pressure needed to obtain proper printing pressure for the job.
Skill in using a micrometer to mount and align printing plates correctly.
