About The Position

Consider joining the Pennex Family as a Press Inspector. The Press Inspector reviews all work in process and finished inspection of extrusions in the Press Department or elsewhere as required. Works closely with the Shift Foreman to ensure shift assignments and paperwork are completed. The Press Inspector fills in for the Foreman in their absence. Requirements

  • High school diploma or the equivalent experience is required.
  • Previous manufacturing experience working with metal is required.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to apply understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to work in a team setting and possess excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, utilize measuring equipment, and operate production equipment.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States, visa sponsorships are not available.
  • Regular attendance required.

Nice To Haves

  • Metal inspection or mechanical drafting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and understands blueprints and standard tolerance tables.
  • Performs basic math calculations.
  • Develops and implements various types of production procedures (documents in procedure folder).
  • Assists the press operator with die changes and setting press parameters.
  • Inspects die layout and clearance of tooling in die slide.
  • Sets up run out table (organizes and arranges blocks, etc.) for production.
  • Sets up water boxes, water pans, cooling fans and other special requirements for various alloys.
  • Inspects the material during production using micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Inspects materials at stretcher and saw to ensure product quality.
  • Instructs stretcher and saw crews regarding the procedure used to handle material.
  • Communicates effectively and thoroughly with written and verbal communication. Communicates with the shift foreman, die shop personnel, hourly personnel, and between shifts.
  • Completes inspection/production reports. Maintains complete accuracy of these records.
  • Evaluates and takes corrective actions to eliminate defective extrusions.
  • Works under limited supervision and possesses the ability to make decisions.
  • Assists the final inspector when necessary.
  • Regularly checks all equipment, immediately reports problems or defects to the proper personnel.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly work area and assists with the general housekeeping of the press department.
  • Follows Company rules and regulations regarding work and safety practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
