About The Position

The Press Coil Helper assists Press Coil Operators in setting up, operating, and maintaining coil-fed press machinery in a safe and efficient manner. This entry-level role is designed to support press operations by preparing materials, assisting with machine setup, and ensuring a smooth workflow. The Press Coil Helper is responsible for ensuring that all necessary tools and materials are readily available, as well as keeping the press area clean and organized.

Requirements

  • No prior experience required; on-the-job training provided.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods of time.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in loading, unloading, and threading coils into the press line equipment (uncoiler, feeder, straightener).
  • Help set up dies, tooling, and components under the direction of the Press Coil Operator.
  • Ensure that the proper material type, size, and quantity are available for each job.
  • Support in the placement and alignment of metal coils or strips to ensure proper feed during press operations.
  • Assist with basic machine setup, including threading the coil stock through the press system.
  • Monitor and assist the Press Coil Operator in adjusting press settings for proper operation (e.g., feed length, speed).
  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning press components, changing rolls, and lubricating parts.
  • Ensure that all tools, parts, and accessories are organized and readily available for the operator.
  • Help conduct visual inspections of raw materials and finished parts to ensure they meet quality standards.
  • Work with the Press Coil Operator to assist in the first-piece checks and make sure that parts are within required tolerances.
  • Report any defective parts, materials, or equipment malfunctions to the Press Coil Operator or supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to 5S standards.
  • Follow safety protocols and ensure that all personal protective equipment (PPE) is used at all times.
  • Assist in maintaining the press area free from metal shavings, debris, and other hazards.
  • Ensure that all machines and tools are properly stored and maintained.
  • Assist with material restocking and tool changes during shift changes.
  • Support the press operators in troubleshooting minor issues and ensuring minimal downtime during production.
  • Help with any additional tasks or duties as assigned by the Press Coil Operator or Supervisor.
