About The Position

The Press Brake Operator sets up and operates metal fabrication machines (press brakes, saws, shears, brakes, punch/drill presses, etc.) by specified quality and quantity standards. The Press Brake Operator may train other employees on department operations.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write, comply with written instructions, and complete job-related paperwork.
  • Press brake operation experience is required for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of previous experience in a sheet metal fabrication facility preferred.
  • Familiarity with metric blueprint dimensioning is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews shop operations packets and engineering drawings to ensure that incoming material is correct.
  • Selects and sets up tools, equipment, and machines to optimize the high-quality flow of work through the work cell and department, based on production specifications and/or Group Lead instructions.
  • Inspects and checks production to ensure production output meets requirements.
  • Makes machine and tooling adjustments to bring non-conforming output to specifications.
  • Informs the Group Lead/Supervisor of any operating or material condition that would interfere with quality/quantity production.
  • Performs routine operator maintenance and operational checks on all departmental tools and equipment, including tool sharpening, machine oiling, fluid replacement, pressure checks, safety switch functioning, etc.
  • Segregates and periodically disposes of scrap material into approved collection containers.
  • Performs all work following established acceptable quality standards.
  • Safely performs all work, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Operates material handling equipment when moving materials into, around, or out of the work cell.
  • Lifts, and/or moves up to and including 75 lbs. in performing assigned duties.
  • Standing, walking, bending, crouching, squatting, kneeling, reaching, and climbing are all required motions of the job.
  • Trains others in job functions as required.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
