About The Position

Operates press brake machines to bend and form metals to meet customer specifications. This role requires adherence to company policies and procedures, collaboration with the setup person, and meticulous attention to quality control. The operator will be responsible for calibration, running first pieces, and ensuring parts meet specified dimensions using various measuring tools and SPC charts. Maintaining a clean and safe work area and completing production paperwork are also key aspects of this position. The role involves constant exposure to manufacturing elements such as noise, dust, heat, fumes, or dirt, necessitating the use of hearing protection. Decision-making is limited, primarily within company policies, with some exposure to confidential data.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months to 2 years press brake experience.
• Must be able to read complex blueprints.
• Must be able to perform complex mathematical calculations.
• Advanced knowledge of press brake.
• Ability to use basic quality inspection equipment including calipers, protractors, and micrometers.
• Ability to follow instructions, read, and write.
• Ability to set up and troubleshoot press brake machine.
• Must be able to work 2nd shift Monday-Thursday 3pm-1am.

Responsibilities

• Operates press brake machines to bend and form metals to meet customer specifications.
• Confers with Press brake Set-up person regarding how the job is to be run and what dimensions to maintain.
• Performs back gauge calibration and resets counters.
• Runs first piece and takes it to inspection or certified operator for approval.
• Adjusts machines if necessary after 1st piece approval, seeking assistance from Set-up Person when needed, and runs the job.
• Using measuring equipment, checks specified dimensions on parts and plots them on SPC charts to track quality of product and process.
• Fills out all required production paperwork and records.
• Maintains work area in clean and safe condition.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
