About The Position

This role involves assisting in all aspects of operating Press lines, including change-overs, machine start-up, running, and shut-down. The position supports the company's goal of achieving World Class operations, with a strong emphasis on safety. The Press Assistant Operator will work closely with the operator to ensure jobs are run according to customer and manufacturing specifications, print specifications, color folders, and standard operating procedures. Responsibilities include setting up jobs, identifying and reporting discrepancies, ensuring printed material is defect-free, minimizing job change-over and down time, and preparing materials for upcoming jobs. The role also involves assisting maintenance with machine repairs and collaborating with the press operator, manufacturing specialist, and supervisor to complete training matrix levels. Understanding the role in product safety and complying with 5S and WCM initiatives are also key aspects of this position. Requirements

  • Previous manufacturing experience
  • Knowledgeable and able to understand a computer and programs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Required to have visual acuity to perform visual inspection including the use of measurement devices and ability to identify and distinguish colors
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with others in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Assist in all aspects of operation of Press lines including change-overs, machine start-up, running and shut-down.
  • Support operations in becoming World Class in all aspects of the business, beginning with Safety.
  • Assist operator in running all jobs in accordance with customer specification, manufacturing specification, print specification, color folders and standard operating procedures.
  • Assist operator in setting up jobs according to established S.O.C.’s (standard operating conditions), and to report and follow up on any discrepancies to the supervisor.
  • Assist operator in ensuring all printed material if free of defects.
  • Ensure all jobs are run in accordance to all written specifications including manufacturing specs, customer specs, print specs, color folders and standard operating conditions.
  • Work with the press operator to minimize job change-over and down time.
  • Make every effort to see that all materials such as inks, stocks, cylinders, cores, and aniloxes are ready for the next job.
  • Assist and aid maintenance to get the machine back on line and productive.
  • Work with the press operator, manufacturing specialist and press supervisor to understand and complete each level of the assistant training matrix on time.
  • Understand the role in product safety.
  • Comply with all 5S and WCM initiatives (Cross Training, moving to the work).
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
