About The Position

Pitney Bowes is hiring for a full-time Presort Associate 1 in Aurora, IL. This role involves preparing outgoing mail, ensuring proper dating, postage, and barcode quality. You will be responsible for identifying and communicating errors, clearing machine jams, and monitoring mail quality before processing and dispatch. The position requires understanding USPS labels, zip codes, and bin/tray matching. You will follow Quality Management Systems (QMS) practices to ensure output quality by verifying details such as date, weight, thickness, barcodes, postage rate, and class of mail. Additionally, you will ensure equipment is functioning correctly, assist with inbound/outbound mail processing, and meet Service Level Agreements (SLAs). Maintaining a clean work area to prevent injuries is also a key responsibility. This is a direct hire position with a pay rate of $17.50 per hour for the 1st shift.

Requirements

  • The ability to be dependable and reliable.
  • Knowledge of the pre-sort mailing business is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodations.
  • The ability to walk, stand, stoop, and bend 80% of the time with or without accommodation.
  • A basic enough understanding of English to be able to understand and follow safety and other operational directions communicated in English, irrespective of your native language.
  • The ability to work overtime which may include weekends, holidays and or a different shift with little or no advance notice.
  • Must have current work experience at Pitney Bowes as a Warehouse Mail Sorter

Responsibilities

  • Prepare outgoing permit and metered mail by reviewing proper date, postage, and good quality barcodes prior to being placed into production.
  • Communicate errors and recognize bad barcodes found in the mail &/or packages.
  • Troubleshoot and remove mail piece jams from machine.
  • Monitor the quality of the mail &/or packages prior to processing and before dispatching.
  • Understand zip code USPS labels and Matching bin numbers on machines to tray numbers.
  • Follow QMS (Quality Management Systems) practices and policies to assure quality of output by double checking the date, weight, thickness, barcodes, presort slug, indicia, postage rate, class of mail, etc.
  • Understand USPS labels and preparation requirements for stacking and preparing sorted mail.
  • Assure the sorter equipment and other equipment used to run and prepare mail are running properly.
  • Assist with inbound and outbound processing of mail &/or packages.
  • Remain informed of acceptance times and when trucks must leave.
  • Assure mail &/or packages is prepared to meet SLAs (Service Level Agreement).
  • Promote a clean work area to prevent possible injuries and/or tripping hazards to self and others.
  • Perform all additional duties as required.
