Requirements

  • Master’s degree in health care administration, business administration, or closely related field.
  • Ten (10) years of hospital operations experience, preferably within a larger health system model.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a matrixed organizational structure.
  • Proven leadership success in improving organizational performance and engaging teams.
  • Experience redesigning clinical and administrative performance models.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at various stages.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Aptitude to thoroughly understand change management and strategic needs, innovation, and potential opportunities for efficiencies and advancements.
  • Ability to resolve problems encountered while working collaboratively and effectively in teams, emphasizing communication, collegiality, flexibility, trust, and patience.
  • Must be vaccinated against influenza (flu).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Northeast Hospital Corporation functions at the highest levels, including delivering safe, high-quality coordinated care, efficient management of resources, smooth administrative services, and implementation of strategic and operational plans.
  • Provide executive leadership, strategic growth, and fiscal health for Northeast Hospital Corporation.
  • Recognize and leverage the inclusive and collaborative culture of the hospital to further integrate into the Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) system.
  • Work collaboratively with system-wide leadership and other BILH hospital and business unit presidents to advance goals for a fully integrated system of patient care, education, research, and community service.
  • Identify new strategic partnerships that extend into the community, ensuring a robust health system with outstanding patient care programs and strong financial performance.
  • Act as a strong operational leader with sound fiscal management experience, continuing the culture of quality and patient satisfaction.
  • Be a visible and enthusiastic leader within the organization and community, and a vital partner in increasing philanthropic support.
  • Oversee the effective selection, development, and performance management of staff to achieve organizational goals.
  • Develop and support relationships that foster professional growth and learning for individuals and team members.

  • Design and establish tools to aid leaders in adopting performance improvement approaches.
  • Foster and enable innovation and transform ideas from creation to dissemination within and across the organization.
  • Work with department leaders and hospital executives to develop, organize, and execute programs and communications to ensure strategic priorities are clearly articulated.
  • Be accountable for assigned hospital operations, emphasizing execution of performance improvement measures that increase productivity and bottom-line results.
  • Develop and implement ongoing measures and evaluation methods for all dimensions of performance, including budget and productivity targets.
  • Ensure systems, processes, procedures, and KPIs are in place and utilized for continuous improvement, sound decision-making, and improved outcomes.
  • Manage hospital license, certification, and accreditation processes, including preparation, data collection, submission, follow-up, and communication.
  • Partner with the Chief Financial Officer regarding financial performance and the development and performance of annual budgets.
  • Participate in the development, education, and implementation of technology solutions (e.g., EPIC, Workday).
  • Partner closely with the CMO and physician group practice leadership on patient care, operational, quality, and financial performance.
  • Lead facilities planning efforts, including space utilization, space planning, and overseeing renovation projects.
  • Partner across the BILH system to find efficiencies, support integration, and achieve improved outcomes at a lower cost.
  • Seek to improve and align system-directed performance metrics and integration goals.
  • Utilize tools like Smartsheet to outline work plans and track expected results, developing correction plans for variances.
