About The Position

The President is the senior executive leader responsible for translating Blue Star Families’ mission, vision, and strategic priorities into operational excellence, measurable impact, and scalable infrastructure. Reporting to the CEO, the President drives enterprise-wide alignment, performance, organizational culture, and sustainable growth. A primary mandate of this role is to scale the organization — strengthening systems, structure, talent, and operational maturity to support continued expansion of impact, revenue, programs, and geographic reach. The President ensures the organization evolves from its current state to a future-ready enterprise capable of sustaining long-term growth. Positioned between the CEO and the Executive Leadership Team, the President serves as the organization’s chief integrator—ensuring strategy is executed effectively across programs, operations, finance, marketing, and community engagement. The President exercises broad delegated authority over enterprise-wide operations, internal resource allocation, executive leadership, and infrastructure development within parameters established by the CEO and the Board of Directors. All C-suite officers report directly to the President, including the Chief Impact Officer, Chief Communities Officer, Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and Chief Financial Officer. In this capacity, the President builds executive leadership capacity and ensures enterprise-wide cohesion, accountability, and scalability. In addition to operational leadership, the President serves as steward of company culture. This leader sets the tone for a high-performance, mission-aligned environment grounded in accountability, collaboration, transparency, inclusion, and continuous improvement. The President must be a strong people leader who develops senior executives, strengthens cross-functional trust, and builds leadership depth across the organization. The President will focus approximately 90% internally and 10% externally, representing the organization. This role requires a strategic, mission-driven executive with deep experience leading growth and scaling complex organizations. The President must reside in the National Capital Region and be able to travel overnight several times per year for leadership retreats, staff off-sites, and organization-wide gatherings. Participation in these gatherings is an essential function of the role.
