About The Position

The Louisiana United Methodist Children & Family Services invites applications for the position of President/CEO. The individual selected as President/CEO will assume the position in the Fall of 2026. The Home was originally founded in 1902 for children who were orphans with the goal of providing love, care, and nurturing. Today, the Home has evolved into a Multi-Service Agency with operations throughout the state of Louisiana. The children which we currently serve have suffered from abuse, neglect, and a range of psychological issues. Throughout its growth and change to meet today's needs, the Home has remained true to its Mission, "We guide children and families Home to experience God’s Love through the Teachings of Christ”. The services currently offered include: Psychiatric Residential Treatment Services Therapeutic Foster Care After-Care Program Equine Therapy Outdoor Wilderness Programs Life Skills Training Elementary, High School and Vocation Education Advocacy and Community Outreach The Board of Directors is seeking a President/CEO who will be a visionary and entrepreneurial leader with experience in social services and executive management. They must be committed to fundraising and community engagement with children as their priority. Additionally, the President/CEO should inspire others through transparent communication and collaborative leadership. The position of President/CEO receives a monthly salary commensurate with the scope of responsibility and relevant experience. In addition, there is a benefit package that includes vacation and sick leave, a defined contribution retirement plan, and health insurance. Candidates should have extensive executive experience, demonstrating exceptional quality in the areas of accounting, finance, cost management, human resources, and fundraising. Candidates must have, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in a related curriculum from an accredited college. A Master’s Degree or equivalent work experience is preferred. The relationship of the Home with the La. Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church is an important aspect of the work. Nurturing this relationship will be an important measure of success. President / Chief Executive Officer Job Description GENERAL SUMMARY The Board of Directors of Louisiana United Methodist Children and Family Services, Inc. shall elect and employ the President of the Corporation who shall have all the general authority and duties which are usually vested in the office of President of a corporation.

Requirements

  • Candidates should have extensive executive experience, demonstrating exceptional quality in the areas of accounting, finance, cost management, human resources, and fundraising.
  • Candidates must have, at minimum, a Bachelor’s Degree in a related curriculum from an accredited college.
  • Must have a strong background in personnel practices and employment laws, business administration and fiscal management practices that will serve to support effective business operations.
  • Must possess a strong sense of personal authority, maturity and integrity for leadership role with staff and youth.
  • Must possess strong leadership qualities to promote staff development, staff morale and cooperative relationships among various departments.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in a diverse range of audiences and settings.
  • Must be skilled in conflict resolution and mediation in negotiations with youth and adults.
  • Must have knowledge of contract negotiation and administration.

Responsibilities

  • Shall be responsible for operating the Corporation and its entire program pursuant to the policies, procedures and programs as developed by the Board.
  • Shall be responsible for the employment, orientation, supervision, general welfare, training and discharge of all other staff members.
  • Shall provide professional leadership and technical consultation to the Board in program planning and policy making.
  • Shall review all agency policies annually, reporting to individual committees of the Board, needed revisions, continuations, or additions to be presented to the Board of Directors for authorization.
  • Shall have full responsibility for details of administration and execution of plans and policies.
  • Shall act in accordance with the annual approve Board document, Resolution Authorizing President of the Corporation to Take Certain Actions.
  • Shall keep the Board informed of the needs of the Corporation, including needs of residents, needs for financial support, and aid/consult the Board in making periodic evaluations of its programs and services.
  • Shall assist the Chairperson of the Board and various committee chairpersons with planning for their meetings and being present or represented at all such meetings as a non-voting member.
  • Shall be responsible for preparing the annual budget for the Board’s consideration, keeping the body informed of financial needs, and operating within the established budget.
  • Advocate for the best interest of the Home, particularly with local and state governments and state departments.
  • Scan the external operating environment, understand its implications, and lead change to adapt to external contextual factors.
  • Maintain knowledge of and continue strong working relationship with the Louisiana United Methodist Conference.
  • Shall perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Board.
