About The Position

The Prescription Management Specialist serves as a supporting member of patient care delivery, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant processing of medication-related requests. This role supports physicians, patients, pharmacies, and internal departments by coordinating prescription workflows, managing refills and requests, and resolving medication access barriers.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Proficient in Windows-based systems and Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
• Detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
• Excellent professional judgment and decision-making ability.
• Ability to collaborate as well as work independently.
• Able to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with accuracy.
• Professional written and verbal communications skills.
• Consistently demonstrates strong attention to detail and sound judgment.
• Ability to type with a high level of accuracy.

Nice To Haves

• Clinical and/or pharmacy experience strongly preferred
• Understanding of medical terminology strongly preferred
• Experience with electronic medical records preferred

Responsibilities

• Review incoming medication requests received through portal requests, fax and enter into the electronic medical record for processing.
• Triage medication requests to clinical care teams as appropriate.
• Complete prescription requests that fall within InterMed’s Prescription Refill Protocol.
• Communicate effectively and efficiently with clinical care teams.
• Collaborate with local pharmacies to clarify questions and/or concerns related to prescriptions.
• Call patients to obtain or verify healthcare information.
• Participate in process improvement (i.e., Lean Six Sigma, Gemba) activities.
• Achieve productivity goals and performance targets in alignment with departmental standards.
• Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies.
• Perform other duties to support the mission, vision and values of InterMed.
