About The Position

The Seneca Family Practice (SFP) Prescription Refill Nurse, reporting to the Clinic Manager/NVCH Director of Nursing, is responsible for providing necessary information, assistance, orders, or instructions to patients, hospital departments, pharmacies, and outside medical offices. This role involves performing patient assessments and documenting them in the current record system, adhering to state licensing requirements and SFP policies. The primary duty is refilling prescription medications for patients according to physician orders and refill policies. Additionally, the nurse will manage medication inventory, check for outdates, and order medications from the hospital pharmacy. The position also includes quality improvement activities such as data analysis and collection as directed.

Requirements

  • Current Kansas LPN or RN license required.
  • Current BLS/CPR certificate required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous clinic office experience preferred.
  • IV certification preferred for LPN applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Refill patient medications as instructed by providers and written protocol.
  • Perform triage patient assessments for service determination.
  • Enter orders into EMR as instructed by providers.
  • Maintain/order medication and samples inventory.
  • Address patient questions via phone or face-to-face contact.
  • Administer injections as instructed by providers.
  • Complete ancillary testing as instructed by providers.
  • Check medication outdates on a monthly basis.
  • Check inventory of medications and restock as needed.
  • Provide backup for SFP Clinic nurses and aides as necessary.
