About The Position

The teacher will provide care, development and instruction to students in the program as well as supervise Associate teacher and Aide when the Site Supervisor is absent. The Preschool teacher will work side by side with the Site Supervisor/Preschool Program Manager. The Preschool Teacher will lead structured outside and inside activities daily, as well as assist the Site Supervisor/Preschool Program Manager with multiple classroom duties. The Preschool Teacher will be the teacher in charge when the Site Supervisor/Preschool Program Manager is out of the classroom, they will communicate with families, help plan events, help with assessments, help with the Annual Preschool Self-evaluation, and give input on lesson plans and possible areas of improvement within the classroom.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Equivalent units to a Teacher or Master Teacher Permit required.
  • Option 1: 24 units Early Childhood Education/Child Development (ECE/CD) including core courses plus 16 General Education (GE) units.
  • Option 2: AA or higher in ECE/CD or related field with 3 units supervised field experience in ECE/CD setting.
  • Has worked in a licensed childcare center with the ability to lead circle time, small group, and other activities throughout the day independently.
  • Has knowledge of Title 22 and Community Care Licensing regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Teacher or Master Teacher Permit preferred.
  • Adult/Pediatric First Aid/CPR preferred (willing to obtain immediately after hire).
  • 16-Hour Health and Safety Course preferred (willing to obtain immediately after hire).
  • Two years experience in Center based Preschool classroom preferred.
  • Ability to take DRDP notes preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Annual Preschool Self Evaluation.
  • Ensure Community Care Licensing and Title 22 Regulations are being met at all times.
  • Ensure ratios are always met.
  • Create one structured daily activity for inside and outside free play (approved by Site Supervisor/Preschool Program Manager).
  • Communicate with parents about upcoming events.
  • Be in charge when Site Supervisor/Preschool Program Manager with DRDPs twice per year.
  • Help create Family Fun Nights, Field Trips, and other Special Events.
  • Keep a clean and safe environment.
